Key points

  • SAP's total revenue rose 13% in the third quarter of 2026, or 12% at constant currencies, and passed €10 billion for the first time.
  • Cloud revenue grew 26% and current cloud backlog reached €24.1 billion, up from €22.9 billion three months earlier.
  • Operating profit rose 18% under IFRS and on SAP's non-IFRS measure, which crossed €3 billion for the first time.
  • Growth was faster than in the second quarter, when total revenue rose 9% and cloud revenue 22%.

SAP has reported more than €10 billion in revenue in a single quarter for the first time. The software group's total revenue in the third quarter of 2026 rose 13% on a year earlier, or 12% at constant currencies, it said in Walldorf on 21 October 2026. Operating profit rose 18% both under IFRS accounting rules and on the non-IFRS measure SAP also reports, which passed €3 billion for the first time.

For the first time, SAP crossed €10 billion in total quarterly revenue and €3 billion of non-IFRS operating profit, reflecting the strength and scalability of our business model.

Dominik Asam, Chief Financial Officer, SAP

Cloud drives the growth

Cloud revenue rose 26%, or 25% at constant currencies, and revenue from SAP's Cloud ERP Suite rose 29%, or 28% at constant currencies. The current cloud backlog, the indicator chief executive Christian Klein highlighted first, reached €24.1 billion. That was 28% more than a year earlier, or 26% at constant currencies, and €1.2 billion more than the €22.9 billion SAP reported at the end of the second quarter.

The comparison with the second quarter shows growth picking up. Total revenue growth accelerated from 9% to 13% and cloud revenue growth from 22% to 26%. Exchange rates played a part: in the second quarter they held reported growth in total and cloud revenue below the rate at constant currencies, while in the third quarter reported growth in both was slightly higher than at constant currencies.

What the management said

Klein called it an outstanding quarter. “Our Autonomous Enterprise strategy is not just resonating, it is being adopted,” he said. He added that customers were putting money into the underlying technology, from the cloud and the data layer to SAP's Business AI, and saw that Joule Work made a stronger case than ever for their transformation.

Asam said tight cost control, combined with continued strong growth in the cloud, showed that SAP could increase revenue and profit at the same time. In July, after the second quarter, he had pointed to a volatile macroeconomic backdrop and said SAP was using AI to drive its own transformation.

Outlook and acquisitions

SAP said it had updated its 2026 outlook for cloud revenue and for cloud and software revenue. The press release does not give the new figures; they are set out in the company's quarterly statement. In July SAP had already updated its 2026 non-IFRS operating profit outlook to reflect the dilutive impact of its acquisitions of Dremio and Prior Labs. According to the quarterly statement, both deals closed in July 2026: Dremio on 6 July and Prior Labs on 16 July.

SAP describes itself as “a global leader in enterprise applications and business AI”, whose software brings together business-critical operations from finance and procurement to HR, supply chain and customer experience, and says organisations have relied on it for more than 50 years. Its releases give its New York Stock Exchange ticker, SAP, and the company refers investors to its filings with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, including its 2025 annual report on Form 20-F, for the risks attached to its forecasts.
